The next generation of designers, business owners, and professionals is cultivated by education, which in turn stipulates the trajectory of fashion. Meanwhile, the fashion industry plays a role in classroom instruction by giving students a real-world medium for self-expression and discovery. They work in tandem to champion the creative energy that will define the future of the fashion industry while simultaneously moving the business ahead.

The School of Hospitality and Creative Arts (SHCA) of Management and Science University (MSU) orchestrated one of its grandiose flagship programmes, the MSU Fashion Week 2023. The immersive week, brimming with creativity and endless myriad artistic expressions, unfolded from November 20 until 25, elevating intercultural learning at the University.

Throughout MSU Fashion Week 2023, a diverse array of interactive activities unfolded, highlighting the rich Nusantara art and craft heritage. From the captivating MSU Fashion Week Batik Making, generously sponsored by Noor Arfa Batik, to soul-string music performances by The Musicians Club, the week was an enticing journey through cultural richness. Glamour Gateways – Spark Your Beauty served as a portal into a realm where beauty and culture intertwine, redefining standards and defying expectations.

The Batik Making activity during MSU Fashion Week 2023 was a deliberate homage to the ancient heritage of Nusantara. Under the guidance of Batik maestro Hafiz, the mission was to enhance the participation—particularly—of MSU international students and staff, offering them a broader comprehension of the intricate process of Batik making.

The Reimagining Nusantara Fashion Exhibition served as an expansive canvas, unveiling the boundless potential of MSU fashion students. From the immaculate strokes of fashion illustration to the trendsetting designs of fashion headgear and the enduring aesthetic of menswear and womenswear, each collection carried the essence of Nusantara.

Furthermore, Community Service: Recycling and Upcycling Fashion Waste Purpose aimed to champion sustainability practises among MSU fashion students and raise awareness within the entire campus. This initiative became a visual representation of the industry's responsibility to the environment, extending beyond fashion. It was a call for facilitating a sustainable mindset within the MSU community.

The music performances at MSU Fashion Week 2023 celebrated diversity. Featuring a multidisciplinary flair, Creative Arts students showcased their vocal talents alongside traditional musical instruments such as cak lempong and kompan. This collaborative effort established a sensory escapade that went beyond the realm of fashion, involving students from various disciplines in the celebration.

Glamour Gateways - Spark Your Beauty catered as an avenue for students to delve into, celebrate, and elevate their beauty and well-being through engaging and transformative experiences. These events were crafted to surpass conventional beauty standards, promoting inclusivity, self-expression, and the holistic aspects of beauty and wellness. In addition, there was also a talk by the industry panel, led by Zamzana Mohd Arifin, Chief Executive Officer of PantangPlus, offering valuable insights into careers within the spa and beauty industry.

The highlight of the week was the fashion dialogue on "The Future of Sustainable Practice in the Fashion Industry." Dr. Thomas Ong Poh Shi from Nano Textile Sdn Bhd, a luminary figure in the fashion industry, engaged in a thought-provoking conversation alongside the renowned fashion stylist, Abu Shaef Hamza. The dialogue not only explored the shifting landscape of sustainable fashion but also kindled a vision for a future where style and responsibility seamlessly intertwine.

The MSU Modest Selangor Runway 2023, marking the climax of a week buzzing with artistry, innovation, and cultural celebration, came to life in the dynamic setting of Centralwalk i-City, Shah Alam. The runway featured alluring creatives, including those from Nusantara Menswear, Nusantara Womenswear X Bawal Exclusive, and other extensive garments.
