Management and Science University (MSU) hosted the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Symposium Series this December.

 

Organized by MSU with the Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (SEARCH) and the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, supported by the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, the first in the BRI Symposium Series discoursed on why poverty and inequality matter.

 

Over two hundred students attended the launch at the MSU Chancellor Hall on campus in Shah Alam Section 13, joined by over five hundred online; among them were students from Henan University of Chinese Medicine (HUCM).

 

Delivering the welcoming address was MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid.

 

 

The keynote address was delivered by China’s Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia His Excellency Ouyang Yujing.

 

 

The forum session, on Why Poverty and Inequality Matter, with perspectives from China and Malaysia, was delivered by a four-member panel comprising representatives from China Agricultural University College of International Development and Global Agriculture, Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council.
