One of the most exquisite luxuries stripped away from us during the Movement Control Order (MCO) was the freedom to be in the presence of nature and revel in its wondrous beauty. The world seemed to be at a constant standstill for nineteen long months, with our occasional outings mainly for essential grocery runs. Amid those months of hardship and uncertainty, Malaysians resiliently sought to maintain their mental and emotional well-being through indoor activities. However, nothing can truly replace the rush of dopamine that comes from feeling the swift gust of air, inhaling the earthly scent, and immersing oneself in the lush green landscapes of the great outdoors. This time, Management and Science University (MSU) is seizing this opportunity to its fullest potential.

MSU, in its serious involvement in aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), emphasised the third SDG, Good Health and Wellbeing, for its employees through MSUFIT. Spearheaded by the Students & Career Development (SCD) department, MSUFIT aims to encourage employees to prioritise health and well-being by participating in regular morning walks.

The MSUFIT event, which took place on October 7 at Taman Tugu, Kuala Lumpur, saw the enthusiastic participation of over 200 employees from two academic departments, the Faculty of Business and Professional Studies (FBMP) and the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE). They collectively covered a distance of 3.4 kilometres.

Over 300 staff from non-academic departments convened for another session on October 15 at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam. This event involved a 4.5-kilometre walk and witnessed the participation of departments including Quality Assurance and Audit Centre (QAAC), Academic Office (AO), Business Enterprise Development (BED), Strategic Governance, Global Affairs (GA), Yayasan MSU (YMSU), Engagement and Enrolment (E&E), Human Resource Department, IT Lab, Centre for Fundamental Studies (CFS), Continuing and Extended Education Centre (CEdEC), Campus Infrastructure Development (CID), Registrar’s Office (RO), Science Lab, MSUMC, President Office, and Exams Department, Finance Department, Library and Resource Centre (LRC), Purchasing and Procurement, Vice-Chancellor’s Office (VC), and Centres of Excellence (COE).

MSU President Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr. Mohd Ab Yajid, Vice Chancellor Professor Puan Sri Datuk Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid, and the senior management team of MSU graced both event editions with their participation.
