The counselling Unit offers comprehensive wellbeing services for the students. The staff is a diverse group of professionals, including licenced counsellors and psychiatrists. Together, they incorporate an abundance of experience with multitudes of issues.

At MSU, the professional counsellors are licenced and registered with the Board of Counsellors, Malaysia, which attends to various groups of students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, international students, and students with special needs.

The MSU counselling ecosystem provides various supports for students’ mental health and wellbeing:

  1. Counselling Session:
    All students are welcome to have their own session(s) with the counsellors by meeting physically on campus. The counsellors provide free, confidential, and non-judgmental support during the counselling sessions. Some areas of concern are:
    1. Academic
    2. Mental Health
    3. Drugs/substance Abuse
       
  2. Tele-Health:
    To ensure equal access to mental health support is given to students on offshore campuses,

     
  3. Crisis Intervention:
    The counsellors are equipped with Psychological First Aid and Mental Health First Aid skills to provide emotional and psychological support to students affected by crises.

     
  4. Training Programme:
    To enhance students’ learning experiences, the counselling Unit offers mental health training programmes that are tailored to develop helping skills and psychological support.

     
  5. Wellbeing Programme:
    The purpose is to educate and guide students on stress management. Some of the available programmes are:
    1. Stress Management Workshop
    2. Building Self-Confidence
    3. Art Therapy for Grief and Loss
